The Holy Name:

(Lokanath Swami, 3 September 2014, Pandharpur)

Why did Krishna not mention the mahamantra in the Bhagavat Gita, but waited 4500 more years to introduce it as Lord Caitanya?

Lord Krishna did mention it in the Bhagavad Gita. This is the verse satatam kirtayanto mam yatantas ca drdha?vratah
namasyantas ca mam bhaktya nitya?yukta upasate [Bhagavad gita 9.14]

Always chanting My glories, endeavouring with graet determination, bowing down before Me, these great soul;s perpetually worship me with Devotion. The Mahamantra, chanting of the holy name is the Yuga Dharma of this Age of Kali.

Krishna appeared as Lord Caitanya and propagated Hare Krishna which is the relevant prcess for Krishna realisation.
harer nama harer nama harer namaiva kevalam kalau nasty eva nasty eva nasty eva gatir anyatha “In this age of quarrel and hypocrisy the only means of deliverance is chanting of the holy name of the Lord. There is no other way. There is no other way. There is no other way.” Simply by chanting the holy name of the Lord, one advances perfectly in spiritual life. This is the best process for success in life. In other ages, the chanting of the holy name is equally powerful, but especially in this age, Kali-yuga, it is most powerful.
