My Dear Devotees,

Please accept my blessings. All glories to Srila Prabhupad.

A happy New Year to all of you!

When a Hare Krsna devotee wishes you a happy New Year, it is not just a wish for the upcoming year, but one that lasts a lifetime. How? The answer lies in Srila Prabhupad’s words – “Chant and be happy”. You do not have to do anything new to be happy. Just continually imbibe Srila Prabhupad’s words.

People make new year resolutions to do this and not to do that. We should also make a resolution – to chant and be happy. How is this possible? We should resolve to chant better in the new year. Better chanting is possible when some genuine introspection is done and we take stock of the offences which we are still committing against the holy name. During the new year we should resolve to avoid committing those offences. Set a goal to desire and endeavour to chant without a particular offence or offences.

Time and tide waits for no man. In this way time has taken us through the different phases of our lives – childhood, youth, middle and old age. Yet another year is passing by. This day marks the passing of the old year and the arrival of the new one. We are nearing our end bit by bit. In the new year we will all be saying “I am another year older.” Ensure that your endeavours are serious and heartfelt.

Time is a valuable resource and should be utilised to get things done as quickly as possible. Otherwise it is an opportunity lost. Time is Krsna. If we are not utilising our time for realising Krsna and developing our relationship with Krsna, then we have truly wasted our time. We should use all our time – months, days, hours and every moment realising Krsna, serving Krsna, talking about Krsna and chanting Hare Krsna. In this way we will always remember Krsna and never forget Him.

Wishing you all a very happy and Krishna conscious New Year!

Thank you.

Your well wisher,
Lokanath Swami
