SB 1.6: Conversation between Narada and Vyasadeva (Text 27)

eva ka-mater brahman
nsaktasyamal tmana
kala pradurabhat kale
tait saudaman yath

And so, O Brahma Vyasadeva, in due course of time I, who was fully absorbed in thinking of Krishna and who there fore had no attachments, being completely freed from all material taints, met with death, as lightning and illumination occur simultaneously.

To be fully absorbed in the thought of Krishna means clearance of material dirts or hankerings. As a very rich man has no hankerings for small petty things, so also a devotee of Lord Krishna, who is guaranteed to pass on to the kingdom of God, where life is eternal, fully cognizant and blissful, naturally has no hankerings for petty material things, which are like dolls or shadows of the reality and are without permanent value. That is the sign of spiritually enriched persons. And in due course of time, when a pure devotee is completely prepared, all of a sudden the change of body occurs which is commonly called death. And for the pure devotee such a change takes place exactly like lightning, and illumination follows simultaneously. That is to say a devotee simultaneously changes his material body and develops a spiritual body by the will of the Supreme. Even before death, a pure devotee has no material affection, due to his body’s being spiritualized like a red-hot iron in contact with fire.

Gurumaharaj then had breakfast prasadam at Navanitachor Prabhu place. Then Gurumaharaj conducted the two more sessions of Japa Retreat Programme. Gurumaharaj took lunch prasadam in between the two sessions. Then in the evening after the Japa Retreat Programme, Gurumaharaj went for an evening walk at Salazie. He was accompanied by some ten devotees. After that Gurumaharaj to a little rest and then got ready for the evening programme at Sri Sri Krsna Balaram Temple where His Holiness performed the namakaran samskara (naming ceremony) of the baby child of Ranganath Prabhu and Srinivasa mataji. The temple hall was packed with devotees and guests. Gurumaharaj commented:From where have you all come from this evening, so many devotees during the day you were not here. The Maharaj sung Hari Sundara Nanda Mukunda and the devotees roared. The temple vibrated with the Holy Name of the Lord and it was out of this world. Guru Maharaj gave a small lecture on the sankirtana movement of Lord Caitanya and the deliverance of Jagai Madhai. The programme ended at 9.00 pm. There were about 900 devotees in attendance. Afterward Gurumaharaj took a light prasadam and went to rest.

Friday, 14 September 2012: Gurumaharaj had a TV programme recording during the day then after lunch prasadam he left for a visit at Sri Sri Rukmini Dwarkadhish Temple at Triolet (in the North). After a nice reception there Gurumaharaj was taken to Shyamananda prabhu at Dagotiere where Gurumaharaj would freshen up and then to reach a big pandal programme at the Dagotiere. There, to our surprise, it was as if a once in a day of Brahma event. Devotees had arranged for Abhishek of 12 Gaura Nitai deities of different sizes big small and all. Gurumaharaj personally performed their abhishek and then gave a lecture in the midst of many other VIPs. Gurumaharaj led the final kirtan during arati and the pandal of 1500 devotees and guests roared in chorus and danced ecstatically. After the programme Gurumaharaj left for Hari Govind Prabhu’s place to rest.

Saturday, 15 September 2012: Gurumaharaj took breakfast prasadam there and had a meeting with the temple authorities and then he left for a disciple, aspiring disciple and well wishers programme at Dagotiere. There we performed footbathing and Guru Puja and the Gurumaharaj gave his last lecture for his visit and went to Shyamananda Prabhu’s place for lunch prasadam and then left for the airport. At the airport there were a massive crowd to have darshan of Gurumaharaj before he leaves for Johanesburg.

Pr Sundaralall said: Gurumaharaj is so pure that wherever he goes the crowd follows. He is a crowd puller.

Hare Krsna.
